Hello, I’m Andrew, a product, UX, and data-visualization designer who has spent the past decade turning dense, technical information into experiences that feel effortless. I work at the crossroads of design and data, pairing deep user research with the science of visual perception, creating user-centered tools that help users explore data to discover insights, uncover trends, and enable data-driven decisions.
Throughout my career, I’ve focused on applying design thinking and visual methods to simplify complexity, reduce cognitive load, and clarify information. I thrive in technical environments—digging into workflows, identifying pain points, and designing solutions that make systems more intuitive and efficient. Thoughtful, purposeful user experiences are always at the heart of my work.
Though my roots are in life-science products, I’m energized by any complex, technical domain where clear design can drive better decisions. I carry the same research-driven rigor and user empathy that have served me in science-based workflows into finance, climate tech, and other data-heavy arenas.
Today I consult with multiple teams, shaping and prototyping 0→1 products while auditing their digital processes end-to-end. By mapping workflows, surfacing friction points, and translating UX insights into business terms, I help organizations uncover efficiencies and steer smarter product choices.
That same research-driven rigor and data-viz mindset shaped my earlier roles:
Ginkgo Bioworks | Led the design of synthetic-biology tools such as strain-lineage viewers and verification dashboards, marrying visual analytics with lab workflows to cut time-on-task and boost throughput.
Broad Institute | Built interactive data-exploration platforms, genomic-editing tools, and longitudinal-trial apps that let scientists visualize and interrogate oncology, genomics, and microbiology data in real time.
Cell Press | Founded the in-house art department, set the visual identity for 39 journals, and created scalable systems for scientific figures and cover art that made intricate research accessible to broad audiences.
Across every challenge, my goal remains constant: use principled design and data visualization to simplify complexity so people can think, decide, and discover, then get out of their way.
